WeBuyGames 2023 Gaming Awards!

It’s been a year of highly anticipated releases! There really has been something for everyone this year across all platforms which has made our 2023 Gaming Awards a challenge, but we got there.

Best Open World

Starfield

Quite possibly one of the most anticipated games of 2023 was Starfield, and it did not disappoint. If you are a huge fan of Bethesda’s older releases, then you’ll feel right at home with this intergalactic adventure. There are countless side-quests, very unusual characters to meet, and lots of freedom in this game. If you like open-world exploration, you’ll agree that Starfield did not disappoint. It isn’t the easiest game for beginners, it really does help if you are familiar with Bethesda’s older releases. We do suggest familiarising yourself with the basic controls before you start wandering the galaxy.

Best Side Quests

Hogwarts Legacy

For any Harry Potter fan, this game ticks all the boxes. Spellcasting, house allocation, and designing your own room of requirement with the help of your house elf, this game captures the magic Harry Potter fans longed for growing up. The best part about this game is the unique side quests that belong to each house. For the die-hard fans, you’ll need to play the game four times to complete every single side quest, which is what makes this game so enticing. Following the main storyline is great but there’s something about the side-quests in this game that really brings the magic of Hogwarts to life.

Best Family Friendly Game

Pikmin 4

Pikmin 4 isn’t the most difficult game in the franchise, but it does add new life to the graphics and gameplay. Pikmin 4 has been designed to introduce a whole new generation of gamers to the world of gaming. There’s almost double the number of enemy types and tonnes of collectibles, giving you hours of fun. It does take a while to get going into the game but once you start playing, it develops into a world of countless possibilities. The graphics and musical score are very charming and delightful for younger gamers.

Best Co-Op Game

Diablo IV

2023_Game_Awards_-_Diablo_4.png

Diablo IV is the fourth instalment of the Diablo franchise and is an online-only action role-playing game developed by Blizzard. There are five character classes to play with: Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, and Sorcerer, although be careful when you choose as they don’t all start on a level playing field. Although it’s entirely possible to play Diablo 4 by yourself, nothing beats dungeon crawling with your closest friends.

Best Remake

Resident Evil 4

2023_Game_Awards_-_Resident_Evil_4.png

Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the 2005 original Resident Evil 4, reimagined in 2023 to deliver a state-of-the-art survival horror. This remake brilliantly preserved the essence of the original game while introducing modern game elements. The remake has an updated plot, new visuals, characters, and cast – it sold four million copies in its first two weeks making it one of the fastest-selling Resident Evil games.

Best DLC

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise

2023_Game_Awards_-_Animal_Crossing.png

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a family-friendly game that allows you to design the island and home of your dreams. The base game is packed with activities such as swimming, fishing, catching bugs, and interior design, but Nintendo took things even further with the Happy Home Paradise DLC. This DLC helps players to bring their dream vacation home to life. Players are tasked with designing home exteriors and interiors using a selection of tools, recipes, and resources that you wouldn’t find in the base game. This is a perfect DLC for those gamers who love the aesthetics of your island.
